Utan Salon was originally started in 2002. I started working there in 2008 as a tanning consultant at our salon near WMU campus during my college years. After working at Utan I explored different full time career opportunities until I was blessed to be a stay at home mom raising my babies. Many years later I found my way back to Utan Salon and Spa Mattawan to work for my great friend Angie Modderman while attending KVCC in their Respiratory Therapy program. After graduating as an RT, amidst covid, Angie offered me a full time manager position with the future of potential ownership! I knew this was where I belonged and what Gods plan was for me. Over the course of working for Angie she taught me everything I know about the tanning industry and how to be an amazing business owner! Janurary 1st 2025 my dream became a reality and I was blessed to call Utan Salon and Spa Mattawan my own! Our team has worked hard to create a salon that feels like HOME. When my clients walk in the door they feel welcomed, and know that they are going to be taken care of by educated staff members who will go above and beyond to help with their tanning goals. We are more than a tanning salon, we are a FAMILY and all will leave the salon feeling that way. We have a tanning facility that caters to all skin types, with the most advanced UV technology. We offer 5 different levels of tanning, spray tanning, and red light therapy. We offer the BEST in tanning skincare through Devoted Creations, and the most important thing is that we make sure all clients are tanning smart and reaching their tanning goals in a safe and responsible manner. We are all trained through the International Smart Tan Network and have continuing education through Devoted Creations, Smart Tan, and the ASA(American Sun Tanning Association). We take pride in our customer service, education, and cleanliness of the salon, and knowing that all clients are treated with our utmost respect.
